The Equal Opportunities Office is available to all members of the university as well as external interested parties for information and advice. Here you can receive information and advice on specific problems. This includes, among other things

  • We advise and support members of the university on all questions related to equality
  • We are involved in all organizational and social measures that affect female employees, e.g. working hours, part-time work or university structure plans
  • We are the point of contact in cases of sexual harassment, discrimination and violence
  • The Equal Opportunities Officer is involved in all personnel decisions such as appointments, recruitment and promotions

Equal Opportunities Committee

The Senate appoints an Equal Opportunities Committee and upon its proposal, a university employee as Equal Opportunities Officer for a period of three years. The Equal Opportunities Committee supports the Equal Opportunities Officer in the fulfillment of her duties.

Duties of the Equal Opportunities Officer

§ 2 para. 2 of the Rhineland-Palatinate Higher Education Act (HG) has the following wording:

 

“The universities shall promote the actual implementation of equal rights for women and men and work towards the elimination of existing disadvantages.”

In detail, this means:

  • The Equal Opportunities Officer is involved in all personnel decisions such as appointments, recruitment and promotions.
  • She advises and supports female members of the university.
  • She participates in all organizational and social measures that affect female employees, such as working hours, part-time work, university structure plans.
  • Participation in committee meetings with an advisory vote.
  • She contributes to the development of initiatives to increase the proportion of women in all areas where women are underrepresented.
  • Involvement in the creation of plans/targets for the advancement of women and monitoring their compliance.
  • Contact person in cases of sexual harassment, discrimination, violence
  • She works with Equal Opportunities Officer from other universities at the state and federal level, as well as in working groups within and outside the university.
  • The Senate Committee for Women's Issues supports the Equal Opportunities Officer in fulfilling of her duties.
