If you are enrolled at one of our partner universities, you may be eligible to study at Hochschule Worms as an exchange student. Exchange students generally pay their home institution’s tuition fees during their time in Worms.
We also have Double-Degree cooperations with some partner universities; Double-Degree students also categorize as exchange students.
Before you are able to apply, your home university needs to nominate you for an exchange stay. For more information, please inquire with your home university's International Office.
Unfortunately, due to limited capacities, “free movers” cannot be accepted.

HOW TO APPLY
STEP 1 – Nomination
You first need to be nominated by your home university’s international exchange coordinator. Visit your international office to find out about the process, requirements, and deadlines for being nominated.
Nomination deadline to start in Winter Semester: April 15th
Nomination deadline to start in Summer Semester: October 15th
STEP 2 – Application
Once you are nominated, you will be provided with a link to our online application (MoveOn). Please note that only applications received through MoveOn will be processed. Furthermore, only complete applications sent within the deadline can be accepted.
You will be asked to register and create a login for MoveOn first. This registration is free of charge and is only possible once per student. After creating an account, you need to login and start your application. The login is possible as long as the application is not submitted and the application deadline is not yet over. You have the option to fill in and save your application in multiple sessions.
You need to upload the following documents:
- A scan of your most recent academic transcript
- Résumé/CV
- copy of your identity document (ID card or passport)
- passport-sized picture (biometric, no more than 6 months old, white background – your head must be approx. 3.5 x 4.5cm and show your entire face and both ears). We will not accept selfies and black-and-white pictures. This picture will be used for your student ID card.
- Language certificate(s): You need to have skills equivalent to English and/or German B1 (CEFR). We accept all standard language certificates, as well as a confirmation of your home university stating your language skills (a template will be provided in the application form).
- For Master students: Bachelor's degree certificate
Further details about these documents are provided in our online application.
All sections of the application need to be completed before you can submit the application.
No more changes will be possible after submitting the application! Please inform us by email (incoming@hs-worms.de), if any modification to the application is necessary (e.g. changed address, different duration of stay).
STEP 3 – Signatures on Application Document
After submitting the application in MoveOn, a PDF document of your application will be generated, which needs to be signed by yourself AND the coordinator of your home university, and then send by email to us within the deadline.
Within this deadline we need to receive the signed application document, otherwise we can not accept you as an exchange student!
You will be provided with information regarding our Accommodation Service during your application. Due to the limited capacities, we are only able to offer housing on a first-come-first-serve-basis.
STEP 4 – Confirmation
If your application is complete and received within the deadline, and there are no reasons to refuse you as an exchange student, we will send the letter of acceptance to you and your home university via email.
STEP 5 – Visa (if applicable)
All non-EU students also receive information documents for a long-term visa, which they can hand in at the corresponding diplomatic representative of the Federal Republic of Germany (embassy/consulate) in their home country. With this document you can avoid further costs at the foreign registration office here in Worms.
Please inform yourself closely about visa and residence permit regulations! We recommend to check the following websites: Visa navigator, Study in Germany, DAAD, Visa & residence permit for exchange students.
Start your visa process as early as possible as it can be a very time-consuming process (up to several months)!
STEP 6 - Enrolment
For official university enrolment, we need the following information until either January 15th (for enrolment in the summer semester) / July 15th (for enrolment in the winter semester):
- Health insurance confirmation (so-called 'Meldung 10' from a German statutory insurance)
- Receipt of payment of the semester contribution (no tuition fee!)
Without these, you can not be enrolled. We also need a German address where you will be staying during your semester.
STEP 7 – Courses, Orientation etc.
After enrolment, we will keep you updated on the courses available to exchange students, the schedule for the mandatory orientation weeks as well as other information that might be necessary for your stay.
