Worms University of Applied Sciences becomes Period Friendly

We are setting an example for equality, destigmatization, and against menstrual poverty. As part of a new project, free menstrual products will be provided in selected restrooms on our campus. These period friendly toilets can be found in the C, N and O-buildings (see details below).

Menstruation is a natural part of life. But all too often it is stigmatized and taboo. We want to break down these barriers and create a space where all members of the university can feel free and confident. Our free menstrual products are intended to help recognize menstruation as something normal and raise awareness of the topic. 

At the same time, we are fighting against period poverty. Access to menstrual products should never depend on financial concerns. With our project, we aim to ensure that no one has to limit their educational opportunities or participation in public life due to menstrual discomfort or costs.

Please note that the menstrual products are for immediate use only and should not be stockpiled. This way we can ensure that they are available to everyone on campus who needs them. 

Together, we can promote equality, break taboos, and combat period poverty.

The project is led by the student organizations AStA, Green-up your College, and Stupa. It is supported by the Studierendenwerk Vorderpfalz, the central student advisory service, and the equality office.
