Open Access describes the goal of making knowledge and information accessible and reusable online - free of charge and barrier-free. The basic idea of Open Access: Quality-assured results of tax-funded research should be accessible to everyone free of charge.
The benefits of Open Access:
• Increased visibility of the authors
• Good searchability via search engines
• Fast & free access for users
• Free reusability of scientific publications
• Quality of teaching and research by a university, for example, is effectively documented and communicated to the outside world
The contents can be researched via conventional search engines such as "Google Scholar" and via special search engines such as u. a. the "Bielefeld Academic Search Engine (Base)" or directly via the various institutional or disciplinary repositories of the publishing institutions.
The so-called “Berlin Declaration” describes the basis of the Open Access movement.
The UAS Worms participates in the DEAL agreement with SpringerNature. This agreement enables a combination of the advantages of a publication in a renowned specialist journal with the extensive reusability of open access publications.
